Belgian WWII Volunteer Simon Aschille – 2nd Infantry Brigade
A unique and complete document set belonging to a Belgian WWII volunteer soldier Simon Aschille who served in the 2nd Infantry Brigade from January 19 to May 8, 1945. This extraordinary collection includes official papers, emblems, and period photographs, offering a rare glimpse into the experience of a wartime volunteer during the final months of WWII, he also served after the war so several papers are postwar dated. Highlights of the collection: Service records from the 2nd Infantry Brigade, formed in January 1945 in the Ronse-Oudenaarde region. Document that shows he was awarded with two military medals (not included physically, but mentioned in documents): WWII Commemorative Medal with crossed swords and Volunteer Service Medal WWII. The group includes some very nice photos, his dogtags and uniform insignia. Also his personal diary.
