F/O J.H. QUIRT’s Service Dress – KIA 1944

Flying Officer John Harvey QUIRT (Service Number J-21394) from Peterborough, Ontario, was one of four brothers who served during the war. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in May 1937, initially serving as ground crew. After graduating in 1942, he became an instructor in Canada before being deployed overseas as a bombardier. Quirt was assigned to the 101 Squadron, where he served as an observer on a Lancaster bomber. Tragically, he was reported missing and subsequently confirmed killed in action on November 4, 1944. Flying Officer Quirt is interred at the Rheinberg War Cemetery in Germany. This is Flying Officer John Harvey Quirt’s Service Dress, crafted by Tip Top Tailors of Toronto in 1943. The uniform is in good condition, with all original insignia intact. There is one repair and a few minor damages, though these are not noticeable when the uniform is displayed.
