Quick Release for X-type Mk1

Original WW2 Quick Release for X-type Mk1. This appears to be an early example, the Quick Release box has always one buckle attached, this buckle is painted in olive drab what indicates an early example, see wartime photo. A scarce item that displays very nicely!

The British X-type troop parachute was adopted in late 1940 as the MkI, initially with a white harness. Soon, camouflaged versions with subdued harness and pack were introduced for service alongside the standard white parachute models. The harnesses can be green so are the buckles, sometimes the quick release is painted green too.
