RAC Mk1 Steel Helmet

WW2 Royal Armoured Corps Mk1 steel helmet. The first steel helmet adopted for use by tank and RAC crews was the RAC Mk1 Steel Helmet. This used the same shell as the Dispatch Rider helmet and second pattern airborne helmet which has a metal rim fitted to the edge of the body. The Mk1 pattern RAC helmet was fitted with a Mk2 liner as found in Mk2 helmets, this was held in place with a bolt and nut. This helmet is in used condition as found, shadow of the netting is still visible. Liner is maker marked BMB, dated 1943 with size 7.
Used by British, Canadian and Polish armoured crews.
