3rd Anti Tank RCA – Battle Dress Tunic

Original WW2  3rd Anti Tank – Royal Canadian Artillery, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division battle dress tunic. This jacket appears to be worn by Warrant Officer Cecil A. Wilson, his name is not written inside the uniform (just came with the uniform written on a piece cardboard). Features original period applied insignia consisting of embroidered 3 AT RCA shoulder titles, and embroidered CANADA titles with division patches. Warrant Officer Class II patches on both lower sleeves and the service years chevron. The tunic is in used condition, a damage on the back of the collar and shows clear traces of usage, great looking combat worn jacket! On button is missing. The tunic is a standard Canadian made example, maker markings are not readable unfortunately.

On D-Day, 6th of June 1944, the 3rd Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment RCA landed in France on Juno Beach as part of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. The regiment consisted of four batteries: the 4th from Peterborough, Ontario, the 52nd from Weymouth, Nova Scotia, the 94th from Quebec City and the 105th from St. George, New Brunswick, along with a headquarters from Toronto. Originally trained as field artillery, the regiment had been converted to anti-tank. Each battery had two troops of four 6-pounders anti-tank guns and one of four M 10s, the latter being Sherman tanks with a 3-inch gun and an open turret with a 50- calibre machine gun mounted on the side.
