Official letters and wartime correspondence, including telegrams and notifications from the Department of National Defence (Ottawa) and Canadian Pacific Telegraphs – World Wide Communications.
Private Brown enlisted at the outbreak of the war in 1939 and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was seriously wounded in Italy and officially reported as “seriously injured” on December 22, 1943. A subsequent telegram dated January 22, 1944, notes that he had recovered sufficiently and was removed from the list of the seriously wounded. A June 17, 1944 letter from the Department of National Defence confirms that he was being repatriated to Canada aboard a hospital ship due to his injuries. It is believed that he may have returned to active service later in 1944 or early 1945, potentially seeing further duty in the Netherlands, though this would need to be confirmed through full service record research.

After the war, Clifford Brown remained active in the veteran community as a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 1, Middleton. He passed away on November 26, 2002, in Middleton, Nova Scotia.

A rare opportunity for collectors of Canadian WWII militaria and those interested in the West Nova Scotia Regiment.
