Glider Pilot’s Flying Helmet – Helmet, Crash, Lightweight

Original WWII Glider Pilot’s Flying Helmet ‘Helmet, Crash, Lightweight’. This is an excellent example of the scarce Glider Pilot’s Crash Helmet, officially known as the Helmet, Crash, Lightweight. The helmet is in very good condition, showing only minor wear. The original paint remains strong and well-preserved. Issued to British Army Air Corps Glider Pilots, these helmets were famously worn during Operation Overlord and Operation Market Garden. The elasticated webbing chinstrap retains its full length, and the helmet features an internal connector for the speaker used when wearing the oxygen mask. The leather remains supple with light service wear.

War Department–stamped with the broad arrow, it carries the reference number 22C/1034 and size 7¼. Both original rubber receiver carriers are fully intact and still house the headphones (without wiring). The interior chamois lining and webbing are clean and in very good condition.

This is one of the finest GPR helmets we’ve handled. Very rare, especially with the original press-studs and clip for attaching a G-mask. A standout piece for any serious airborne or glider forces collection.
