R.A.F. Personal Aircrew Escape Kit
Original WWII R.A.F. Personal Aircrew Escape Kit. A rare escape kit of the pattern issued to RAF aircrew prior to operational flights. The kit is contained within its original inner box with the original lid present; however, the outer covers are no longer included. The original contents remain visible as packed. The box is of the earlier non-curved pattern. Visible contents include a rubber water bag with drawstring top, Horlicks tablets, chewing gum, a small roll of sticking plaster, a box of safety matches, chocolate, a tube of sun cream or condensed milk, and a standard escape compass. The box appears complete as far as we are aware, although the contents have not been removed for inspection and we cannot confirm whether this is possible without disturbing the original packing. The water bag is still very supple and in very good condition. These kits were issued individually to aircrew and also formed a component part of certain survival kits. They are extremely rare to find today, particularly with the contents still present and apparently undisturbed. Please note that we are unable to fully close the lid on the box.
