British Fibre Rim Paratrooper Helmet – BMB 1942

Original WWII British ‘Fibre Rim’ paratrooper helmet. Following the experimental P-Type helmet, the first production model issued to British airborne forces was the fibre rim helmet. Introduced in 1942, it featured a distinctive black fibre composition rim around the edge of the shell. In 1943, it was succeeded by the MkI helmet with a steel rim, which in turn was followed by the MkII (sometimes referred to as the MkIII) fitted with a webbing chinstrap.
This helmet was produced by BMB (Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd) and is a desirable 1942-dated example in size 6⅞. It retains its original stitched leather chinstraps, which remain in good, used condition. The shell retains its original wartime paint finish and displays honest field wear. The helmet also retains its original liner, which is in good condition. The liner bolt and retaining nuts remain untouched, exactly as they should be.

British Fibre Rim airborne helmets in untouched condition have become increasingly difficult to find. A truly beautiful and untouched example of the iconic early British paratrooper helmet.
