1st Canadian Parachute Battalion – Battle Dress Jacket 1944

€3.650,00

Original WWII 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion battle dress jacket, worn by a Sergeant. Dated 1944 and size 7, the jacket shows normal signs of wear consistent with service use. All insignia are original and period-applied, including a pair of English-made printed 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion shoulder titles and printed Airborne Division patches. The jacket features Sergeant rank chevrons along with three wound stripes, indicating that the wearer was wounded three times during his service. The jacket also retains a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal ribbon. An interesting feature is the period tailoring to the back of the jacket, giving it a straighter, more fitted appearance.  The jacket does not have a parachute wing. However, there are two tiny vertically aligned holes that may indicate that a removable badge or insignia was once worn in this position, an unusual and interesting detail. Similar modifications can be seen on page 67 of “Into the Maelstrom by Ken Joyce”.

A scarce and highly desirable wartime battle dress jacket from the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, with fascinating regimental history and excellent period character.
