British Camouflaged Leather Jerkin – 1942

Original WWII British Camouflaged Leather Jerkin, dated 1942. The jerkin is in very good condition, with all buttons present and the leather remaining very supple. It retains its original maker’s label, marked “Jerkin, Leather, No. 2”, Size 2, manufactured by Hector Powe Ltd. and dated August 1942. Also War Department (WD) letter ‘O’ stamped for date 1942. The camouflage finish is absolutely stunning and gives the jerkin a fantastic, distinctive appearance. This would display particularly well worn over a British Battle Dress jacket. Leather jerkins were practical pieces of British Army clothing, providing an additional layer of warmth while leaving the arms unrestricted. They saw widespread use throughout the Second World War, particularly in colder conditions and among troops carrying out duties where freedom of movement was important. British-pattern leather jerkins were also widely used by Canadian troops during WWII.

A very attractive and well preserved original example.
