British “3inch Mortar-Bomb” webbing backpack

Original WWII British 3″ Mortar-Bomb webbing backpack, hard to find item. Designed for man-portable transport of 3 inch mortar bombs, particularly during “long carry” operations when vehicles were unavailable or for discreet forward movement. Also used by airborne troops when mortars were deployed separately. The pack features four top opening pockets with reinforced bases, padded sections for shoulder and lower back support, and adjustable shoulder straps with brass hooks and D-rings. The stamp is faint and difficult to read, but appears to show “1943” followed by a broad arrow. These packs are known to date from the early to mid-war period.
