RAF Irvin Flying Trousers

495,00

Original WWII RAF Irvin flying trousers, officially designated “Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Trousers.” Standard Irvin trousers manufactured from brown leather with a dense mid-tan fur lining, flapped knee pockets and integral braces/suspenders. The leather is in good, supple condition, showing normal signs of use and wear. This model of flying trousers was introduced in 1938 and was widely used by RAF bomber crews as well as pilots of the famous Hurricane and Spitfire. It was common practice for the insulated sections to be removed, as this system was not particularly popular with aircrews. The right leg retains a good, functional zipper. The left side is missing the zipper slider. Complete with its original braces.

A nice, original example of these iconic WWII RAF Irvin flying trousers.
