Wireless Set No. 38, Mk II* (WS38)

995,00

Original WWII British Wireless Set No. 38, Mk II* (WS38). An exceptionally complete British Wireless Set No. 38 Mk II*, one of the most important short-range communication systems used by British and Commonwealth forces during the Second World War. Introduced around 1941 and designed by Murphy Radio, the Wireless Set No. 38 was a portable HF man-pack transceiver operating in the 7.4–9 MHz frequency range. This five-valve set provided reliable battlefield communications between infantry units and supporting forces and was also used in Churchill Mk I, II, III and IV infantry tanks, where it enabled direct communication between tank crews and supporting infantry.

This set is complete with the original Junction Box ZA-13348, Throat Microphone ZA-19734, Battery Bag ZA-13347, Satchel bag (brass fittings were painted green), the correct Case Spare Valves ZA-12971 for the WS38 complete with its instruction sheet inside, the web carrying case for the Type F aerial sections, two sets of headphones, and the Wireless Set No. 38 radio itself, ZA-13280, serial number 248156. The original rubber cable remains remarkably supple and is complete and intact, which is rarely encountered today. The set also retains its original webbing carrying harness. We added a free copy special brace hook.

Complete WS38 sets with so many original components and in very good condition are becoming very hard to find.

The Type F Aerial Sections are available separately and are listed in a separate advertisement.
