LDSH Battledress
Lord Strathcona Horse Battledress
RARE WW2 Canadian Battledress to a Lieutenant of the Lord Strathcona Horse (LDSH) – 5th Canadian Armoured Division with early badge formation what was worn in 1943 and early 1944. Not seen very often. The battledress has embroidered insignia, and a intructor trade badge for sharp shooters on his breast pocket, this is the wrong place for this patch (maybe done for fun?). Anyway very nice early pre 1942/1943 dated battledress with original applied insignia.
The regiment embarked for Britain on 13 November 1941 and landed in Italy on 8 November 1943, where it fought as part of the 5th Armoured Brigade, 5th Canadian Armoured Division. On 16 February 1945 the regiment moved with the 1st Canadian Corps to Holland as part of Operation Goldflake, where it fought until the end of the war.
