North Nova Scotia Highlanders (NNSH) – Battle Dress tunic

Original WW2 North Nova Scotia Highlanders (NNSH) battle dress tunic. This tunic is in field worn condition with expecting stains and traces of wear and wounded in action (WiA). The North Nova Scotia Highlanders landed on D-Day with the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, they fought in France, Belgium and The Netherlands. The jacket’s sleeves are amazing! They are field modified for a more stylish look, probably because it was worn by a small fellow, it has the wound badge and Service Chevrons. All insignia is period applied, some stitching has come loose due to wear, nice canvas shoulder titles and melton 3rd CID formation patches to both shouders.  The tunic is maker marked by Devonshire Clothing. Date is not readable but must be 1942 or 1943, see the collar’s hook-catch system. In size 1. The tunic comes with a period photo, I suggest he must be the shortest person on the left. This is the ultimate North Nova Scotia Highlanders tunic.

A field worn battle dress is extremely rare, especially when it is from a D-Day regiment!

The North Nova Scotia Highlanders was a Canadian infantry regiment that, along with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada and the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, formed the 9th Brigade of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. The regiment was based in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada. On D-Day, 6 June 1944, it landed in Normandy as part of the 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, and it continued to fight in North-West Europe until the end of the war.
