RCAC ‘1st Canadian Army’ – Battle Dress Jacket “MiD”
€495,00
Original WWII Royal Canadian Armoured Corps (RCAC) ‘1st Canadian Army’ battle dress jacket, worn by a Lieutenant-Colonel ‘MiD’ who served in Africa, Tunisia with 1st Army, after that he went to the 1st Canadian Army. Features all original wartime applied badges. The insignia includes a pair of printed Royal Canadian Armoured Corps shoulder titles and 1st Canadian Army formation patches, and embroidered rank insignia for Lieutenant-Colonel, service year chevrons. Very interesting medal ribbons: O.B.E. medal – Africa Star ‘1st Army’ (rarely seen on Canadian uniforms) – Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (CVSM) and Mentioned in Dispatches (MiD). An interesting combination of medals and the Officer’s rank might help identify the name. The Mention in Despatches (MiD) is no longer attached to the jacket, as the sewing thread has come loose. He must have been an important officer—an MBE, OBE, and MiD are not basic medals. The jacket is made by J. Elkin Co Ltd from Farnham ON. Dated March 1943 in large size 15. It shows normal signs of use, overall good condition.
