RAF / SOE pattern locket escape compass

Original WWII RAF / SOE Escape Compass. Encased in transparent waterproof material, this is the small escape compass with a “star” rotor, sealed in a small plastic pouch to protect against humidity. A simple cotton tape allowed it to be worn around the neck as a locket. Such compasses were issued with the Beadon flying suit and included in many escape packs and kits, and were also used by special organisations such as the SOE. Intended for use by evading or escaping personnel to navigate toward neutral territory. Excellent working condition.
