British String Vest – H&S 1942

Original WWII British (Airborne) String Vest. These vests were issued to various units in the Second World War, including the RAF and British Airborne, and are now often called “Airborne string vests.” Known mainly as cold-weather gear, ideal on heavy bombers, they were also reportedly used for escape and evasion, as they could be unraveled and braided into a rope. The original label remains, showing the manufacturer “H&S” a well-known brand of the time, along with a 1942 date. Good condition.
