Battledress 4LAA RCA – 1942
D-Day regiment, 4LAA – RCA, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division who are registered the first Canadian anti-aircraft kill of the campaign by shooting down a JU88 bomber near Colombiers-sur-Seulles at 9:30 p.m. on 6 June!
Original Canadian Battledress and beret of the 4th Light-Anti-Aircraft Royal Canadian Artillery.
The tunic is in good used condition without damage and is nicely maker marked S&G Clothing Co. Ltd. and early dated 1942 – size 10. The tunic has embroidered insignia and 4 service year chevrons and a ribbon bar for medals. The beret is in used condition, shows moth damage. Maker marked Grand ‘Mere Knitting Company Limited, dated 1944 – size 7 and C broad arrow marked.
Very interesting uniform set with history in France, Belgium and Holland!
4th Light Anti Aircraft:
The 4th Light Anti-Aircraft (4th LAA) Regiment – RCA, who landed at Courseulles-sur-Mer June 6 1944 to provide air defense for the Canadian troops who had begun their fight for the liberation of Europe from Juno Beach. Their gun was the 40mm Bofors gun, the gun was painted with the markings of the 32nd Light Anti-Aircraft Battery, 4th LAA Regiment – RCA, which registered the first Canadian anti-aircraft kill of the campaign by shooting down a JU88 bomber near Colombiers-sur-Seulles on 6 June
