British Airborne Fibre Rim Helmet – BMB 1942
Original WWII British Airborne (Paratrooper) fibre-rim helmet. This is an early wartime British paratrooper helmet featuring the distinctive fibre rim. The shell is also maker marked BMB 1942, vwhich is a very nice detail. It retains its original leather riveted chinstrap assembly, which remains in good, supple condition, including the chin cup lined with intact chamois for added comfort. The liner is complete, well-preserved, and clearly marked with the maker’s initials BMB, dated 1942, and sized 6 7/8. The liner’s protective padding is constructed of pressed felt, coated with a thin, rubber-like tar layer, a feature referenced on page 129 of British Airborne Headdress. The crash pad is present, and the rim is securely fitted and in excellent condition. The helmet’s exterior has been camouflaged with a rough textured green paint. The bolts and nuts are untouched.
This helmet is in very good, minimally used condition—a rare find for collectors, as British Airborne Fibre Rim helmets are becoming increasingly scarce.
