Canadian Scottish Regiment – Battle Dress 1944

RARE WW2 Canadian Scottish Regiment (CSR), 3rd Canadian Infantry Division battle dress tunic. Original period badged example with all badges nicely sunken into the fabric. The tunic is in worn condition, showing traces of wear, one closing button and lower sleeve button are missing. Maker marked and dated 1944 in size 5. The number appears to be an museum registration number. Nice embroidered CSR shoulder titles and 3rd Canadian Infantry Division patches. Original Canadian Scottish Regiment BD tunics are increasingly hard to find! The CSR motto ‘Ready for the Fray’.

The regiment mobilized the 1st Battalion, The Canadian Scottish Regiment, CASF, on 24 May 1940. It embarked for Britain on 25 August 1941. On D-Day, 6 June 1944, it landed in Normandy, France, as part of the 7th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, and it continued to fight in North-West Europe until the end of the war.
