Dutch National Battalion – Cap badge

RARE original WWII Dutch National Battalion cap badge. Very good condition with functional pin and catch. The Dutch National Battalion (DNB) was formed on April 15, 1945, in Aalten, Netherlands, near the end of WWII. It consisted mainly of local resistance fighters (“knokploegen”) and those who had been in hiding (“onderduikers”). Responding to a call from the Canadian forces, about 400 volunteers quickly assembled into three companies. The DNB supported Canadian troops by providing local knowledge and securing the flanks during operations on the Veluwe. After Germany’s surrender on May 5, 1945, they helped man a security line from Spakenburg/Eemnes to Dodewaard.
