North Shore Regiment – Printed shoulder title

Original WWII North Shore Regiment printed shoulder title. This English-made insignia, worn by Canadian troops overseas, remains in good condition.

In 1944-1945, the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment played a crucial role in World War II as part of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division.

D-Day and Normandy
On June 6, 1944, the North Shore Regiment landed on Juno Beach during the D-Day invasion. Assigned to the Nan Red sector, they faced heavy resistance but successfully captured the beach and pushed inland, securing the coastal town of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. The regiment fought in the brutal battles for Caen and the Falaise Gap, key to breaking German defenses in Normandy.

Northwest Europe Campaign
After Normandy, the North Shore Regiment advanced through France, Belgium, and into the Netherlands, fighting in significant operations like the Battle of the Scheldt in late 1944, which was vital for opening the port of Antwerp for Allied supplies. They also played a key role in liberating Dutch towns from German occupation during the winter of 1944-1945.

Final Push into Germany
In early 1945, the regiment entered Germany as part of the Allied offensive, helping to clear German defenses and secure victory in the region. By the end of the war in May 1945, the North Shore Regiment had earned a reputation for its bravery and effectiveness, contributing significantly to the success of the Canadian forces in Northwest Europe.
