Royal Winnipeg Rifles – Beret 1945

Original WWII Royal Winnipeg Rifles beret with its original applied cap badge. The beret is heavily used and shows clear traces of wear, shows damages. The cap badge and its red backing remain original and firmly in place. Of particular interest is the red backing, as Rifles units normally used green backing; it is clearly original and not a later addition. On the inside, behind the cap badge, is a protective cloth pad used to keep the badge secure and prevent wear to the beret, a common practice among soldiers at the time. The beret was manufactured by Grand’Mère Knitting Company, dated 1945, size 6½.

An original Royal Winnipeg Rifles beret with its badge intact.
